The firm’s Environmental Practice Area represents companies, financial institutions, commercial developers, municipalities, property owners and individuals on a variety of environmental, land use and worker safety matters. Lawyers assist clients in administrative and litigation proceedings, due diligence investigations, permitting, remediation projects, local and state land use matters and employer/employee safety issues.
Our Environmental lawyers work with clients and environmental engineers on environmental remediation projects resulting from voluntary, litigation or enforcement decisions. They advise clients on cost effective remedial options available under state and federal clean-up standards and then secure approvals, permits, contracts and other requirements to implement the project. The lawyers also have worked on a variety of solid and hazardous waste projects including sites impacted by petroleum, solvents, metals, mercury, pesticides, PCBs and radioactive materials.
Employee Health and Safety: OSHA; Personal Planning
Lawyers in the Environmental Practice Area work with other Practice Areas within the firm to represent clients in a variety of employer/employee safety, recordkeeping and other OSHA issues including matters identified by safety committees, industrial hygiene professionals and government officials. They represent clients before Federal OSHA, which regulates the private business sector in Connecticut. They also work with other attorneys in the firm on personal, family and fiduciary planning matters requiring inheritance, ownership or management of contaminated assets and to assist individuals to overcome or minimize environmental impediments.
Permitting: Air, Waste & Water
Our environmental lawyers work with clients to secure environmental and land use permits and approvals. They also provide advice to clients on compliance matters and defend permit holders against governmental actions.
