Reid and Riege Welcomes Lowell J. Walters as Of Counsel to Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice
Hartford, Conn. — Reid and Riege, P.C. is pleased to announce that Lowell J. Walters has joined the firm’s Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Group.
Lowell brings extensive experience advising employers on retirement, medical, and other fringe benefit programs. He helps clients navigate the complex requirements of the Internal Revenue Code and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), minimize risk, and develop practical, tailored solutions.
Lowell works with private companies, nonprofit organizations, government entities, hospitals, and universities on a wide range of employee benefits matters, including fiduciary responsibilities, retirement and welfare plan design and administration, executive compensation, employment tax issues, and compliance with a myriad of laws including the Affordable Care Act and COBRA. He also helps clients respond to investigations and audits by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service.

Throughout his career, Lowell has helped employers address sophisticated benefits challenges, including retirement plan mergers and terminations, health and welfare plan compliance, benefit reductions, and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements. He regularly collaborates with actuaries, consultants, and other professionals to help clients build the right team and reach workable solutions.
Lowell earned his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law, his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, and his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University. He is admitted to practice in Florida.
Lowell frequently writes and speaks on employee benefits, retirement plans, executive compensation, health plan compliance, and related tax matters.
Lowell will focus his practice on helping employers design, administer, and maintain employee benefit programs while managing risk and meeting their legal and regulatory obligations.
